Windows 2000 and ASUS Probe

Has anyone gotten ANY version of ASUS Probe to work with Win2K? Anytime I have tried to install it the installation fails even with the newest version. Anyone else had any luck with this???

yep. i've had it working in win2k with both my old p2b-f mobo and my new a7v133

are you running it on your 440bx box?

no problems here in win2k pro with my k7m. Are you installing under an admin account?

Yes, I am attempting to run it on my 440BX box. (I don't even bother wit the CUSL2-c since it has monitoring "issues&quot Is there something I need to know as far as the 440BX chipset, Win2K, and Probe?

Yes, I am trying to install under an Admin account. The install fails but afterwards it still shows up in Add/Remove Programs and I have to go into the registry to get rid of the entry. Maybe I am doing something wrong but I haven't been able to figure out what it is.

are you using the version that came on your mobo cd? or have you downloaded the newest version? i believe asus also has an "older but newer" version on their website as well right under the newest one

I didn't even attempt to install the one on my mobo CD. FYI, I also have BIOS version 1006, the final release from ASUS, installed. I have tried to install both versions on the ASUS website, both with the same result. Probe ran great on my Win98 systems but apparently has a few problems with 2K. Back when I had a 98/2K dual boot I got it to load in 2K but as soon as I rebooted to 2K I got some ".dll not found" error. In searching the archives here I found at least one other person with the identical problem. I am almost tempted to give MBM 5.08 a shot but I guess I had just hoped ASUS would figure out the problem or I would figure out what I was doing wrong. This is the one utility/application that is kicking my butt with Windows 2000.
