Windows 2000, ATA/100 Question and Performance Question

1. When I went to task manager in Windows 2000 (Shift-Ctrl-Esc), I used to have two (maybe three) tabs at the top, but now they have seemed to dissapear. Is there any way for me to get these back? Right now all I have is the main one with the running programs, end task, switch to, and new task.

2. I'm running an ABit KT7A-RAID motherboard, and when I put my hard drive (IBM Deskstar) onto the RAID controller to get the full ATA/100 that it is capible of, Windows gives me an error and asks me to reboot. Do I need to install some sort of drivers or something special for this to work or does ATA/100 just not work on Windows 2000?

3. My computer does not seem to be performing too well despite the 1.2 GHz processor and 512 PC133 SDRAM. There seems to be a slight delay after clicking on something for it to load and the mouse sometimes moves very slowly or temporarily stops. Anything I could do to see what's causing the problem and/or how to fix it?

sounds like you need a good re-install....and soon!

I think that you need SP2 installed on 2000 to get Ultra100 working correctly.

Check on the 2000 microsoft site here and try the fix reccomended

How do I reinstall Windows? I tried installing it from the CD but it didn't do anything. Do I have to format and then install? Also, where can I get SP2? as this should fix the ATA/100 problem.

if you have what you want saved backed up, you should just be able to boot off the win2k cd and install from that. it can format for you if you want it to

as far as sp2, last time i checked, sp1 was the only service pack available...and that can be gotten by running windows update.

OK, I reformatted...now how do I get rid of the old installation? I get prompted to use the first one or second one, but I don't need the second anymore.
