Yes there is a way to get rid of it.

Do the following:

START -- RUN --CONTROL PANEL -- USERS AND PASSWORDS.
Uncheck the box that says "Users must enter a user name and password to use this computer"
It will prompt you for the username and password that you want to autologon each time Windows starts.

Voila! You dont have to type in your password anymore.

My windows 2000 doesn't have that icon in the control panel. I did find this though. In the control panel open up administrative tools and then local security settings, in there you will have a "directory tree" on the right hand side of the screen. In the tree open up local policies and then click on security options. On the left hand side of the screen you will have a bunch of different security settings one of which is disable ctrl alt del requirement for logon. Right click on this and click security set it to enable to disable the feature so that you do not have to hit ctrl alt del to get the log on window. Aside from that I have not found a way to disable the logon window for 2000 (yet). Is this 2000 home or pro?

2000 comes in professional, server, or advanced server.

SaigonK was right with what he said when talking about professional.

Saigon's way is correct and you do have a users and passwords in your control panel, it's the last one on the list.

I guess I am using server. My bro gave it to me. Yes its legal (incase someone wants to flame me). "Store bought" version with certificate and everything. Never payed attention to what version it was assumed it was pro. I wonder if he meant to give me server? Hmmmmm. Better ask him about this.

Enable the default admin account and login with the account. After enter into the computer, remove the password of other accounts. There will be no password at next login.
