Can i install windows 2000 professional on my laptop?
The reason of my question is that my laptop has a sticker that says "Designed for windows xp"

Many XP drivers also work in Windows 2000, but not all. What is the make and model of your laptop?

Also, any reason in particular you want to move from XP to 2000?

And the reason i want to change is it has a 256mb RAM so it runs a little slow.

Yes, 256MB on Win 2K is plenty for every-day work. I hope you are not using ClearType, because there's no such thing in Windows 2000.

Well, the drivers for your laptop model are listed here. Each of them are listed as XP, but based on the specifications, many of the components (such as the Intel Graphics Adapter) have drivers available directly from the component manufacturer's website.

Personally, I think a better option is to upgrade your memory to 512 MB or 1 GB of RAM. Windows XP SP2 has a number of security features that you will miss out on even on a fully patched 2000 machine. Upgrading memory is a painless process and well worth the investment.

Which sadly only sometimes works with Windows drivers. For instance back when I was using my Dell notebook I reloaded it as soon as I got it and if I used drivers directly from ATI the thing wouldn't even boot but it worked fine with the drivers from Dell.

What about the card reader? i heard that there is a card that you can put it in the card reader that works as a RAM, is that true?

Yes, it will almost certainly try - as long as the HD is erased first

You mean like a CompactFlash or SD card? Those media are way too slow to serve as viable memory upgrades.
