Looks like you'll be waiting for SP4a as well.

Installed it on my machine with no problems (and no perceivable benefits either). YMMV.

That is a really crappy message, to boot (no pun intended) the solutions do not appear that easy.

Good luck!

if you have w2k server, be careful. I heard a case that SP4 totally killed a W2k server.

I stopped upgrading at SP2. SP3 has Digital Rights Management software and I'll do without that thank you.

Well mine *was* a professional version and it's dead indeed. I think I'll wait awhile before I upgrade my computer at home.

clean the spyware/ adware and disable your virus programs before installing it...Heh? You forgot and it screwed up your computer. Oh well you learned a valuable lesson for the future.
Installed on about 10 or so computers so far at work and zero problems. And yes these computers (drafters, etc.) have a ton of high end software, etc.

Um not really, this is a totally clean system with sp3 installed. There were no other applications running in the background when I started the update, only Internet Explorer.

WARNING* New service pack has issues. Just thought id give people the heads up. Already had 2 people install it and now they cant get on internet and other such things. Which is why I always let the n00bs install service packs first. They are the first line of defense against crappy software. Install at your own risk!!

PS: Also....This is the wrong forum for this thread...............

Thanks, my monkey icon brother! I usually wait a couple of months or until the next SP is released, whichever comes first. I've learned that lesson the hard way too many times. With Microsoft you never know if the cure is going to be worse than the sickness.
