I have two newer machines running SP4 without any problems (shutdowns are actually FASTER than SP3).
I haven't attempted to upgrade my Thinkpad T21 (PIII-800) yet because SP4 includes hotfix 329170 which caused shutdown delays of 2 minutes on this machine which I did not care for...

Funny....SP4 for Win NT 4 was also a BAD service pack. I'll let everyone beta test it for me first, lol. It's basically all the Windows updates they've been putting out for the past year or more.
You sure can! Get it while it lasts...Originally posted by: sxr7171
I just installed Windows XP this week, and I decided that when Digital Rights Management affects me in any way I will go back to Win 2K. But I wonder if there is still a way to install a fresh copy of Win 2K and just update to SP2 anymore, it seems like Windows Update just directs everyone to install SP3. Can you still update to only SP2?
They wrote the code, they hand picked the hardware, they had a relatively small (in comparison to that of IBM-compatible PCs) list of software to test... so why the need for a "massive overhaul of how the system works and runs", not once, but twice, and for that matter, at all?

if you have w2k server, be careful. I heard a case that SP4 totally killed a W2k server.

Seems that Apple charges twice for delivering once, regardless of whether it's a patch or upgrade, even though a 30 second trip to Google will reveal numerous quotes of Jobs stating that 10.1 would be free.

for blue screen of death problems.
I had a blue screen of death for service pack 3. But, it said on the blue screen of death to disable the shadow ram. I did so, rebooted
and was ok. Service pack 4 had no problems. Except now, when I goto the internet, zone alarm asks me if I want to allow services and controllers to access act as a server.
ANy ideas?

You shoulda told them you wuz downloading pr0n!Originally posted by: rgroves
You DO NOT have to install SP1, tehn SP2, and SP3, before applying SP4. THe Service packs include previous releases.
If you had to apply each one, MS would have to make then available to everyone all of the time. 129MB is a hefty Download, our corporate Firewall people came to visit me after I downloaded it, and wanted to know why I downlaoded so much stuff... Damn Internet Nazi's.... No bandwidth for you...
