I have this set up to run daily at 1:00 AM, no users on the system, no other operations running, etc, with a DDS-4 single tape drive as a backup device. Even though I am
using an Administrator account (sysadmin) to run this with it gives me the error message below. I checked the event log and could not find anything to help me determine what is causing this. I also have backups set up on other servers running Win2000 Server with the same tapes and drives but they run fine. Any ideas that could help me out?

I'll see if I can't get that fix downloaded for us. I also looked and saw that "sysadmin" wasn't a member of the "Backup Operators" group so I added it
in to that.

What happens when you run a manual backup, of a different folder - say your c: drive?

If I run it immediately, it works. Only the scheduled ones fail so I don't think it's a problem with accessing the drive. I've been in contact with IBM to get the Windows fix but the one that they had me download didn't work so they're going to get back to me when they've figured out the problem.

That patch is included in Service Pack 1 so I installed that and rebooted. I had to rebuild
the backup a couple of times to get it working. Also had to make sure that it was writing to a log file as well under the Backup utility settings which I forgot to check initially.
