Windows 64-Bit Trial

I am considering this trial version on my system, but feeling a bit causious about it. Anyone currently using this OS? If so how is it working out for you? I currently have Windows XP Pro and wondering if I change my mind can I revert back without too much trouble.

Get a second hard drive and try it out that way..It's not yet ready for prime time or to permanently replace your 32-bit XP right yet.

I don't recommend it unless you are a programmer or driver developer. It doesn't have any advantages over using Winxp 32.

Thank you both for the quick replies. That is the same feel I am getting from search on Google for articles. Don't like the sound of the driver issues.

Without a 'Dual Boot' system you're trapped by the lack of drivers.
The ATI video will work at the 32 bit default, but . . . .

NO MODEM
NO LAN
NO NIC
NO SOUND

You can't go on-line directly with the 64 bit.
And there are at least 10 updates waiting on the Microsoft Update site.

I did find an ASUS LAN driver that is supposed to work on the Abit Max3, but I haven't installed it - yet.
Downloaded it, burned a driver cd, put haven't pulled the handle - maybe later today or tomorrow.

Thank you Kirk. I definately will not be messing with Windows 64 right now. When I am ready I'll add the second hard drive and try it out a bit. I did order the CD and now have in my hand, but it will have to wait. Wouldn't consider down load over 56K modem, unfortunately no DSL or cable in my area and I won't touch satellite. Too unstable in spring and summer here.

Tried the Asus LAN driver on the Abit Max3 - no dice, wouldn't run the program from the burned disc.
Explore disc in CD-ROM says the program's there, spins up, but will not install the driver.
Onward blindly !

Hate that!!! Well Captn Kirk it seems you are boldly going were few have been before. Can be lots of fun or the pits. Most rewarding when you finally find the answer.

Hope I'll be able to ask some questions on the topic in a short while. Have to wait for now as I have other irons in the fire.

Hope all of you who are messing with windows 64 will keep the rest of us posted on the progress.
