I see what you mean now, you didn't mean RH side of the desktop but the menu, I have that menu but to start programs I still have to go through 'all programs' then manually click each one (which is annoying & you didn't have to in XP!). So would you wouldn't you?

lol. "Social Butterflies". It's the name of my bookmark folder for social websites such as facebook, myspace, etc. They were pretty much required to have for my previous job, so I got accounts in them. Now I don't use them so much, but they have their uses.

Is your issue that your start menu doesn't display recently used programs? If so, right click on the taskbar, select properties, and select the start menu tab. Under privacy the first checkbox should be selected (store and display recently opened programs in the start menu).

I'm not actually sure if he ever posted what it was. Assimilator1 was saying that in WIndows 7, he has to click on an item in the start menu, instead of being able to pause over it and it expand like in Windows XP. I mentioned that the right side of the menu does, and he didn't realize what I was talking about, so I posted a screen shot.

I'm using the RC and there is an option that when you hover over a submenu it is supposed to open it automatically. On my version it doesn't work correctly since it only opens items directly on the start menu, not the items under all programs. For example on the screenshot on the first post, when the option is disabled I have click on click on all programs to open it, and any of the menu items on the right side (fullmetal, documents etc). When I turn on the option those items are opened automatically when I hover over them, but it doesn't open any of the folders under the all programs menu. Vista has an option for classic start menu, but from what I can tell in windows 7 there is no way to set the all programs menu to expand folders to the right like a menu, only down. If someone is using one of the newer builds they can check to see if pausing over the program folders expands it.

Edit:
Went back to my vista install and it also does the same thing as windows 7. I turned on the classic menu to see how it looks, but it makes your start menu windows 98 style.

As salvor said anything in 'all programs' has to be clicked on to expand. Does yours not do that?

Assimilator1, are you running BOINC in Windows 7? I'm having issues with getting BOINC to work in my non-admin accounts. :|

I normally use a non-admin account, and switch over to admin if I need to. But I'm not able to start BOINC in my normal login. Any ideas?

Just installed W7 on one of machines and you still have to click on the subfolders in order to expand them. Fullmetal, I'm running as an adminstrator but I'll create a non-admin account to see if I have the same problems.

Edit:
I tried running boinc as an admin (start menu shortcut) in a standard user account and it would give me a message that I didn't have enough privileges. I then started boinc as an admin directly from the programs folder which worked fine. afterward I could start it as an admin from the start menu shortcut without any problems.
