PC:
Core i7 920
Nvidia 275 GTX
6GB DDR3 RAM
Corsair GS700 PSU
Corsair Force 3 SSD
2x hitachi 500gb 7200rmp

About a month ago my pc would randomly freeze and I would have to reboot it so it can work again. One day I wake up turn on my pc and I get a error windows failed to start, so i figured my ssd had gone wrong. I installed windows 7 on my other hard drive and everything went well for about 3 weeks, within that time i had a few freezes but i didnt pay much care to it.

Today i had the windows failed to start again, so my first thing was to install windows 7 on the ssd again, but this time during the installation the first reboot my monitor would not go on, the fans were still running. I had to unplug my power chord to get my monitor to work again and by doing this i got through the installation. A few seconds into the desktop screen my pc freezes and reboots, again my monitor was unresponsive.

I then installed an overlay windows 7 into one of my other hard drives, and my monitor again would not turn on during reboots so after unplugging it i got through the installation and again on the desktop screen like 3minutes in my pc freezes and reboots.

---------

What I have done so far

> took out 2 out my my 3 ram sticks only left one in
> memtested the 1 ram stick 2 passes about 40mins

windows 7 still freezes on desktop screen, my monitor still is unresponsive after reboots

------------

I installed ubunto as an overlay to one of my drives, and it did not solve my monitor issue, but it has been running for about 45 minutes and it has not frozen at all or rebooted.

I only rebooted it with ubuntu during the installation and my monitor was unresponsive again during that so i unplugged the chord and its been running fine for 45minutes.

I am running out of ideas to what the problem is.

I cleared the CMOS earlier today through the pins and didnt really do much.

--------------

Tested 1 stick in 1 of the slots for 10 passes no error will test that stick in the other slots to rule out the ram problem

--------------

Posting as much info as I can to get this sorted

CPU Temperature 35c
MB Temp 37c

CPU Voltage 1.144V
3.3V Volate 3.328V
5V Voltage 5.094V

The problem is no longer Windows failed to start, just clarifying for people just jumping in to the thread the 2 issues I need to figure out are:

1. On all reboots my monitor does not work while the fans are running, and I have to unplug the power chord press the power button for 5 seconds and plug it back in for the monitor to finally respond. When the monitor does respond I can hear a change in the fans, it sounds a bit lower is the only way i can describe it.

2. The few times i have even tried to load up windows it freezes shortly after i reach the desktop anywhere from seconds to 3minutes in. On my SSD it was seconds and on my Hitachi drive I think the longest time I was able to be on the desktop was 4minutes then it froze and immediately after the freeze the PC rebooted itself, and on the reboot my monitor again was not working.

for the monitor problem you should post the model of the monitor. Perhaps that is a bug with that monitor. Those are very strange issues, never heard anything like that with monitors.

Sounds like it is locking up once it finishes starting up all your services. Probably something video card related. Try removing the video driver in safe mode. Then when you reboot normally I bet it will not freeze. Until you install the video drivers.

If this happens let us know. And in that case, try a barebones video driver install, no nvidia nview, etc. Just the driver.
