In for one.

I didn't know WA state pays sales tax. It has been awhile since I ordered from Buy.com. A good deal regardless.

This has to obviously happen on the day my order is being delivered! Oh well!

Not like it really matters; I've lost more OEM XP licenses than I have computers today. I'm sure most of us are the same way.

5% cashback through Shop Discover at Buy.com.

Dangit, I paid more for mine. Maybe I should score another to upgrade our two WinXP netbooks.

10% back (up to $20) if you check out using eBillMe and claim the cashback once the payment is processed (as a future eBillMe credit or you can request a check once you get to $50). Combinable with the 4% from Fatwallet.

Oh flip, bought it for $10 more on the 6th.

call this number, 866-216-1072(Amazon CS), have the order number handy, tell them the deal and they will refund you the $10, just did it and it took 2-3 minutes...

Aside from requiring XP, is an install of this OS the same as if I were to buy the "full" version? What makes a full version more full?

33 bucks a lic. I guess that's what MS should be charging anyway. Funny that as soon as you buy this you know Win 8 is right around the corner. I guess They want the majority of xp users to upgrade... can you just install this on a formatted drive with windows xp key? Or do you need the CD as well? Just wondering how one would upgrade say a dell or gateway with out the CD but the key sticker on the case? also what if you only needed 2 lic's? Could you sell the other one like on ebay?

This does not require XP. Well, none of the upgrade Win7 installs I've performed did...

They are the same. The upgrade just requires something to upgrade from before it will install. It is possible to make the upgrade do a full install - there are instructions floating around on that. I'd rather do that anyways, as I always prefer a full install over an upgrade. Just back up data and make a USB drive with latest drivers, plus dig out your software install disks. Yes, takes more time, but your OS won't be bloated with stuff you no longer use.

None of the web "hacks" work....been there, MS closed those holes. However...on Microsoft's very own website....the upgrade WILL WORK as a full version.

Just install it and don't put in the CDKEY. After windows is installed, simply put the disk back in, let it autoplay and install Win 7 again. On the second install input the CDKEY and then on reboot, simply delete the old Windows folder and you're done. Kind of a pain, takes a bit longer, but it works EVERYTIME.

DOH! Glad I missed the deal. Already have two 3-packs (purchased at higher price).

When did they do that? I did an install just a couple weeks ago with no problems. I've been using the MediaBootInstall and slmgr /rearm method.
