Damn wish I knew 2 other folks for this.
They are called family members, this isnt a license to share with your buddies, its meant for people wanting to upgrade the machines in their own home.

Get off XP (and Vista) people!
It doesn't have to be in the same home. They don't check IPs or anything.

it's 109.99 at staples after instant coupon discount. you can also stack 25 of 75 or more coupon you can get on eb@y or ejunkie making it like $10-15 bucks cheaper depending on taxes in your state.
You can use the Microsoft approved double install trick to install a fresh copy. Works like a charm!
Stupid Q, but what is this trick? The machines I've updated so far have had WinXP on them so I haven't had to worry. (well worth the upgrade IMHO)
The "trick" is to do a clean install first, without entering in the product key. Then reboot, and run the installer again. I don't enter the product key during the install, but wait until it's done the second time around. This actually does work.
If you have a hard drive that already has XP or Vista on it, you don't have to do this. (Assuming a clean install, I've never done an actual upgrade before)
Actually, the better method of doing a clean install is to do the "Registry edit method", so you don't have the bloat of the double-install method:

This is the procedure I used on a new hard drive and it worked great. By the way, I'm a licensed holder of both XP and Vista, fyi. You are on your honor of course that you are in fact upgrading, so don't think that I'm sanctioning being a scumbag here if you don't own a PC with some version of Windows on it somewhere in your house.
Are you sure that they'll stack? Those coupons specifically say that they won't stack with instant savings.http://www.staples.com/Windows-7-Hom...?cmArea=SEARCH

But what does the EULA state? Don't get me wrong, I am not here to pass judgement on it. I am just curious to know what the EULA states of their physical location.
