Windows 7 updates

I go to windows updates, I click view all updates to bypass the windows 10 update. I go through and deselect windows 10 as the optional update and then when I click get started it says it's downloading windows 10.

Is it just misrepresenting it's self when it says it's downloading windows 10 or is it ignoring that I unchecked it, I don't want to let it continue to find out that it is installing windows 10.

One thing to do would be to right-click the hard drive and select the hide option.

Another thing to do is use windows Disk Cleanup to remove the $Windows.~BT folder. Use the "Clean up system files" option.

I checked for updates again, I unchecked windows 10 I right clicked on it and said hide update, clicked ok.

Everything looked fine until I clicked get started and then it once again informed me that it's downloading windows 10, I know Microsoft wants to push windows 10 on people but this is ridiculous.

After hiding the update, click on "Check for Updates" again.

Did you remove the Win 10 files yet?

Another way is to go into installed updates and remove KB3035583.

I just went and removed KB3035583, do I still have to remove Windows 10 files and if so where?

I'm back, here is the story, I tried never10 I've tried deleting the cashed downloads folder for windows updates. I have tried unchecking the windows 10 update and telling it to never show again and when I go to start downloading the updates it says Downloading windows 10.

I honestly was so frustrated with it, I gave up for the time being. Now that the free windows 10 update is no more I figured I could try again. Same thing, when I look at the list of important updates I do not see windows 10 listed anywhere but when I tell it to start downloading it immediately says downloading windows 10.

Is it possible that it will tell me it's downloading windows 10 when it really isn't or is it most likely actually downloading windows 10 even when I see no way to tell it not to?

Also, I have noticed that when I go to check for updates manually for windows 7 it literally took over 4 hours to come up with a small list of 72 important updates. This seems like a direct attempt to make windows 7 updates cumbersome to try and convince you to go to windows 10.

There is a link in the thread at the top of this subforum to get an update that should help alleviate the time to get updates for 7. In addition, one of the most recent Windows Updates is also supposed to help.

I actually had only seen this on a third party site when I mentioned it above, so the info above is more accurate of course, and is very good for those who still need to do fresh installs of 7 and don't have access to a recent image.
