Windows 7 upgrade install - drivers question

I currently have Vista on my system. I have an X-Fi sound card that only has a beta driver out at the moment.

I plan on installing Windows 7RC using the upgrade route. Am I ok leaving the creative vista drivers on, or is it better to uninstall them and install the beta Windows7 driver?

In the same vein, should I first uninstall the AMD ATI drivers and CCC before I do the upgrade install, and then install WIndows 7 AMD ATI drivers after the Windows 7 upgrade?

Your best/safest bet is to do a full install, not an upgrade, though I've done it both ways successfully.
But then I have a different setup than you do.

W7 7100 (and pretty much all the others along the way)
A8N32-SLI-D
FX57
6800Ultra's in SLI
SB Live24! (though the hack to X-Fi Xtreme works in W7)

And remember to always back up your data! I've had a rough time with Creative cards in the past when moving to a new OS.

I understand a clean install is better, but I'm going the upgrade route. What I'm looking for is an answer to my question about whether or not I need to uninstall the Vista creative drivers or not, followed by installing the beta WIndows 7 creative drivers. Ditto for my AMD ATI question.

As suggested, do a clean install. Leave it installed as it will most likely work. If it doesn't, install the Windows 7 beta driver.

Same suggestion as above. Just do the upgrade if that's what you want to do. If it works it works, if not, install the newer drives. You shouldn't have to uninstall anything before you do an upgrade.

You should be fine doing the upgrade with the vista drivers installed. My friend went this route, and while he did have to update the x-fi drivers to the win7 beta version to get everything to work right post-upgrade, it didn't prevent him from actually doing the upgrade.

Edit: And that's what I get for multitasking while on the forum.

Everything went fine - except NIS 2009 doesn't work with Windows 7RC (even though I am pretty sure I read some people with the Windows Beta version had no problems with NIS 2009). I found a 14 day trial version of NIS 2009 that is a beta for Windows 7.

Does anyone out there have NIS 2009 working with WIndows 7 RC? If so, how did you get it to work?

I installed the 14 version. Are you saying I can use my key to make it permanent? I thought since it's a beta I have to update to the next beta when the 14 days are up.

I believe you can, since 14 days is pretty darn short of a time period. Ping me Monday and I'll ask one of the consumer guys to be sure.
