Friends,

I installed this OS, downloading the on-line iso. Works fine but says that I have three days until activation. My question is whether that is a final deadline or may be extended ? Where is the least expensive product key to use ? Local OEM x64 disks are ~ $120.

I use an OEM x32 version of 7 but don't suppose that key will work,
Or will it ?

Google rearm windows 7 to extend it. I have no ideal where to acquire a cheap price on a key.

Supposing its the same PC you're reinstalling from x86 to x64, then yes, it will work. The codes for x86 and x64 are exactly the same, and will work with both versions.

If its a different machine, then it will not, and is a breach of the OEM license agreement.

Thank you
I tried it originally but the number was rejected--could have been a typo/ Ill retry.

Not an uncommon sort of error -- guaranteed to cause immediate panic . . .

In my youth, I had 20/20 vision and I could put several .22LR rounds through the black label of a Coors can at 100 feet. Now, I find that I need extra light and a magnifying glass to read a Windows product-key.

Make sure you don't get the "B" mixed up with an "8" -- a "5" confused with an "S". Or other, similar common mistakes . . .

HAHA
Bought a magnifying glass to go with my glasses and now can see those miniscule numbers and letters.
All to play Wolfenstein
And it rocks.

I've always had problems reading their product keys. But, I've never had anything close to 20/20, either. For me, a high-CRI flashlight rocks for that (then again, what aren't they awesome for? ).

Anyway, Windows 7 lasts way longer than 3 days. I ran my first release-version install for several weeks, before finally activating and imaging it. But, it will set the theme and background, show a message at the bottom-right, and pop-up nag you quite a lot. So, unless they've changed it since ~2009, you've got more than 3 days. Just that it goes from polite to annoying after those 3 days are up . I think there is a 120 day real limit, though. Now, XP would just go dead to you after 3 days.

There are not 32-bit or 64-bit keys. There is 32-bit and 64-bit media included with the keys, but you can install and use either one with any given 7 key. They do this because most people are good with 64-bit, but may come across a financially important program that still only runs in 32-bit, and be forced to downgrade. Wouldn't it piss you off if that meant having top buy another copy of Windows?

E bay would be a place for a cheap copy, I seen it on sale on new egg. I have the 64bit OEM, but got it long ago when it was around $100.

I miss the days where you could get a family pack of Windows 7 Home Premium with three licenses for under $100.

I believe the copy I downloaded had 3 days left from the 30 day allowance after first install.
