What is the difference between the

Windows 8.1 Pro System Builder OEM DVD 64-Bit vs. 8.1 pro 64 bit full version?

I assume the full version is for people that are not upgrading up to 8.1 from a previous version.

I'm currently building a new pc so i would need the full version. I just want to know what is the difference from a systems builder vs a regular full version.

System OEM version is bound to the PC it is first activated on

The full version is your own license which you can transfer to another PC if you wish.

true, both can be used to make a full clean installation, go with the cheaper one if you plan to keep that PC for long

So there is a seller on amazon who is selling windows 8.1 pro full version. I emailed him through amazon asking why is his windows pro only 80 bucks plus 3.99 shipping. Usually they are going for almost double that. On this link there is a couple of of sellers selling windows 8.1 pro full version cheaper compared to other sellers.

He said it's only the key code that he is selling. He told me he could burn it on a iso for me. He has the 64bit or 32bit.
Does this seem legit to you???

When it saids "full version" does that mean i don't need an older version of windows to get windows installed on my new ssd drive?

Here is amazon link of the 2 sellers.

http://www.amazon.com/gp/offer-listi...8177202&sr=1-2 on the right hand side where it saids "more buying choices" click on the one that saids 44 open box and new. The seller is the first one and the second seller that is selling a full version for 118 bucks is the second one.

When i emailed that person about the product key he is selling, he sent me a link to microsoft website:

http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/upgrade-product-key-only

What do you guys think?

Personally I would avoid that seller, windows pricing is fairly standard and does not change to much. The fact that he is selling the cd-key only is a red flag as you cannot get just the keys anymore unless it is from Volume Licensing/Open Licensing/MSDN/Technet, and they are not allowed to be re-sold. And if MS finds out they will de-activate the key and then you will have to purchase windows again

Well it seems he or she got caught by amazon. I tried looking up that seller on amazon: WindowsSseller", and couldn't find that person.

I'm glad i didn't jump the gun.

But another guys is selling an open box version. So, i will take a risk on him. He has 25 100% feedback. So that seems good. And also, people that gave him a feedback, he has been responding back. He also has other items on sale.

Plus he has both the 64 and 32 bit version

IMO, don't trust the "and fulfilled by Amazon" ones either, because in my experience (and quite a few reviews have mentioned this), second-hand goods seem to be sold as new like that.

I've had it with a Windows licence that had obviously been used (someone had removed the product key sticker from the DVD case then attempted to re-stick it), and I've read things like "when it arrived, the beard trimmer already had some grey hairs sticking out of it".

Good to know.
So far amazon is good about getting a refund. I'm sure if this turns out to be crap then i can get a refund on it and complain to amazon.

When Windows 8 launched, I bought a ton of licenses from MS on a special offer. All I got was a key in an e-mail.

Most of mine have never been installed, but I assume that I could sell them on and that they are not tied to me.

I'm not sure what the legality of selling these keys are, but considering that they are new and full licenses, I can't see that there is a problem.

I did the same. I think I got my keys for $30.00 a piece. I bought 3.

I remember reading an article on CNET (i think) about buying the upgrade version and being able to install a full version from the upgrade disc legally. That may have been Windows 7 though. I'll have to look around and explore Microsoft's License terms as well. If it's legal to do, I'll post back.
