Microsoft Windows 8 64-bit (Full Version) - OEM
$99.99
$20 off promo code EMCXTXM48 exp.3/10
Free Gift: CyberLink PowerDVD 12 Standard (value $49.99)
free shipping

Windows 8 does not come with the capability to natively play DVDs, so the bundle does add value.

The "OEM" version is the only way to get the full version. "Retail" versions are all upgrades.

NO Thanks!
Unless is comes with a giant ips touch screen.

I have a 24" Samsung touch capable ips panel and honestly I find myself using the mouse and keyboard more often.

Good deal for anyone looking to upgrade. Thanks Zap!

Well then, good thing it is free. And $20 off Windows to sweeten the deal, so they're paying you to take it.

yeah you can upgrade to the deluxe around 50 bucks 60 with the software on a disc.

The deluxe is okay for a few years then it will die. Well it may stop working on newer blurays.

Good price in Windows 8. I'd rather use VLC than dealing with PowerDVD, but it doesn't hurt to have it included.

As Windows 8 continues to get negative press, sales are going to continue to get better on it. Of course, if you already have Windows 7 and wanted 8, then I think the deals won't be much better than the initial launch one that expired.

I find it humorous that one of the first questions people ask is it possible to downgrade to Windows 7. I think the fact of the matter is Win 8 has been a real bomb for Microsoft. If you don't have a touchscreen I really don't see the point anyway.

I've been steadily upgrading my PCs to Win8 from Win7. Is is light years ahead of Win7? No. But there are many things I like about it (new file/copy dialog is great). They've basically just replaced the start menu with the start screen. While I don't think Win8 should be hyped, I don't understand the hate.

I don't think it's hate as much as consumer apathy at being forced into another Microsoft operating system they really didn't need. It's made for touchscreens and the vast majority of desktops and laptops are not so. All the reviews I've read say if you don't have a touchscreen (which probably amounts to 90% of computers) and are forced to navigate Win 8 with a mouse it's a real PITA. However I'm glad you are happy with it.

I remember when Windows 95 cost $250 and it was worth every penny. I guess it's a good deal if you have the hardware this is targeted for but with a desktop mouse/keyboard setup 8 isn't worth pirating.

That was my view of it as well.

I also take a dim view of OEM pre-built machines (mostly laptops) that come pre-loaded with Windows 8, because the BIOS/UEFI generally has Secure Boot and Fast Boot enabled, which means that it can be a real bear (or actually impossible) to shoehorn Windows 7 onto it, even if drivers are available for the built-in hardware components.

If that wasn't so, then I wouldn't have any problems purchasing a Windows 8 laptop and installing an SSD and just doing a fresh install of Windows 7.

I've been satisfied with windows 8. Yeah its odd missing the start button, no I don't like the app store but I love the fast start up, more disk space and it seems pretty secure.
I could see the metro tiles growing on me over time they definitely are more artistic that the old icons.

Pinball FX 2, best Pinball game ever. I upgraded to Windows 8 just for this game.

I think for the "touchscreen generation" (late 90s, 2000s), kids and teens, really, the shift is doable. After using a jailbroken iPhone and Android, I'm really used to using edges of screens for stuff like notifications, closing apps, multitasking, and system menus, so Windows 8's gestures slid right into place for me (see what I did there?)

In fact, for my 3 year old brother, Windows 8, even without a touchscreen, makes more sense than Windows 7 (he navigates into the desktop to play basic preschooler games, and knows to use the multi-tasking if the computer's on already or the actual app if he hand to turn it on). He's used to dragging around edges and touch-esque gestures to make stuff happen--since he expects it, it makes perfect sense to him.
