Windows 8 on a tablet preview

I don't know why people haven't tried it, but VirtualBox runs Windows 8 pretty solidly. It's free and quick to install and test it. I showed my friend it last night. Took 20 minutes to install everything, and I was able to get everything working.

I hope they release updates for the Dev build because I want to experience the change from Dev to consumer. Honestly, it's pretty solid, but there are a few areas that really need fine tuned.

Bring on the Windows 8 PCs, Tablets, and Phones next year so all my stuff can be the same across platforms

What's your setting like in VirtualBox to get it to work? I have tried Windows 7, Windows Other, and several other combinations when creating it but always got an error in the beginning.

I ended up stealing my wife's Dell Mini that she rarely used anymore and install it using a USB flash disk with the tool from Microsoft. It installed without a hitch. It even recognized everything and installed the drivers for them, except for this one single thing with an exclamation point that I don't know exactly what (it's not audio, webcam, usb, ethernet, or wi-fi, because all of those work already).

Honestly, I just left everything at default except I changed the one setting to Windows 7. What Windows are you on? I'm assuming 7. I'm using 7 x64, and it was working fine for me. I don't know what to tell you. I left ALL of the settings at default as well. Sorry I can't help you more than that.

Well they're dropping everything not just Flash. The goal is to make it plugin-free.

While I do use Flash on my mobile devices, it really does need to die off.

To summarize: Explorer takes seconds to launch. And with nothing else running in the background.
