I googled with so little information about Windows 8 running on Netbook like Dell Mini 1010 with only 1GB memory. I am thinking about ditching my desktop pc with windows 7 and keep my Dell Mini 1010 I would like to try Windows 8 on Dell Mini 1010.

I tried out Win8 RTM on my AO-522 netbook (1GHz dual-core C50, 4GHz DDR3 & 128GB Kingston SSD). It runs much faster and smoother. The lags I often encounter under Win7 are also absent.

I would have upgraded to Win8 if only the screen wasn't dying on me already.

I have a HP Mini-210. It passed the Upgrade Assistant test and I intend to install Win 8 on it soon. I've read, as Zorander mentions, that Win 8 runs better that previous flavors even on a lowly netbook.

Win8 works great on my Mini 10v with 2 Gbs RAM, bit better than Win7 I'd say. The screen resolution is too low for Metro style apps, but i spend most of my time in the desktop environment anyways. They are registry hacks to run it the required res if you don't mind things looking a little funky.

Win 8 runs just fine on my Asus eee 1000H. Lowly Atom N270 but it runs surprisingly well.
Memory upgraded from 1GB to 2GB and it helps a lot.
Occasionally it feels better than Win 7 but as mentioned before, Metro apps needed a tiny registry hack to get the 1024x768 shrunk on the 1024x600 display. Text is a tiny bit fuzzy but otherwise it's OK. Also getting the right display driver made a huge difference.
Wifi drivers are a huge mess for my Ralink module though for some reason. One old Win7 version runs well but the 'updated' Win8 ones break stuff

My HP Mini-210 is 1366 x 768. Is that gonna be an issue or concern w/ Win 8?

I've got Win8 on my Lenovo x120e (E-350 APU, 8GB RAM, 120GB SSD). Much smoother and more reponsive than Win7. Resuming from Hibernation is also a snap!

Thanks guys my mini 10 (1010) is not memory upgradable that is the problem. And I heard some stories about GMA500 (graphic driver) has some issues with Windows 8 RTM that is why I asked you guys.. Windows 8 upgrade advisor says it passed everything except some apps. Also it says it needs to be at least 1024 x 768 to work better. I will give a shot with Windows 8 pro or Windows 8?

You can download an evaluation copy of Win 8 Enterprise to try first if you have a Microsoft email account. It worked with an old live.com account I never use and my wife's hotmail.com account. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/evalcenter/jj554510.aspx

There is some minor differences between it and Windows 8 Pro.

My daughter has a mini 10V. I upgraded it to 2GB ram. What a PITA. Had to take most of it apart to get to the ram slot. I put Win7 Ultimate 32bit on it. It runs fine. She still uses it.

I just installed 2GB of memory in my HP Mini-210. Took about 5 minutes. All I needed to do was remove the bottom cover, remove the old and snap in the new. Sorry your mini was a PITA.

Now running Win8 on my HP Mini-210. I did take advantage of the $40 upgrade. Not sure if I'd buy it today for $199.

So far, so good. It's snappier than XP and several Linux distros I've run.

Boots very quickly, especially with the new SSD (Crucial M4).

I now need to learn more about Win8, but in just a few minutes "I got it" at least fundamentally.

Onward and upward.

After a few days running Win8 on my HP Mini-210, I'm lovin' it. Boots quick, runs snappy on a "yesterday" machine, apps are nice, etc. Not sure why the complaints - maybe cause it's a new paradigm - but whatever I'm very happy with Win8. I ain't goin' back.

YMMV

Win8 is definitely faster on lower powered systems.

Microsoft did a lot of internal housecleaning with Win8/2012.

Oh by the way Atom N530 cpu which I have is single core is awfully SLOW!
