I also heard they will merge direct X 12 with games for windows live, making both mandatory to play any game :thumbsup:

I will probably upgrade because I have stuck with Vista for savings. Doesn't matter so much on a standalone gaming/media box.

Any change to the Vista/Win7 windowing system would probably be a good one, so I'm cautiously optimistic. Worst case, I continue using my own launchers, file explorers, window movers etc instead of the default stuff - just as I do now.

I'm running it now, I ended up getting rid of the Metro UI. Neat to play around with at first but I got annoyed after a short while. Otherwise everything has went smoothly so far without a hiccup. I've installed Firefox, MSE, Winamp, Steam, updated my GTX460SE drivers from nVidia (the Win7 ones).

I'm still running XP at home, though my new work computer has windows 7 on it and it's pretty decent. Still not so much better than XP that I would want to spend money on it though.

98SE was an improvement in all ways over 95. ME and Vista were issues.

He's pretty much trolling. I'm sure there will be some facebook integration, but not not at the kernel level. Of course, I'd rather have some facebook integration than what OSX is doing with Twitter.

What does the "ver" command return?

MSI might just see "6" and assume vista, I think it does the same with windows 7 since it is actually windows version 6.1.

Bill Gates has had nearly nothing to do with Microsoft for over 3 years now. Oddly enough... he spends a lot of of his time out of the country.

I think they should leave the Metro UI for use with tablets, I don't like it as part of a desktop OS at this point. I like the Windows 7 GUI much more.

I'll be *far* more likely to back down to XP from 7 due to some program compatibility than I will be to go from 7 to 8. I like 7 though, I see no real reason to move up.

The only reason I wanted Windows 7 is because i could actualyl use any install disk to rebuild the computer using the product key sticker that is on the case.

Granted, I jsut use whatever OS comes on the PC I buy so I'll eventually be forced into Windows 8.

It's really not. I tried the MSDN dev copy this week and it's actually a great OS. What I like is everything looks good AND is functional. There's not really any fluff. They also shortened the number of clicks to get to settings for networking, Internet security, and a few other things. What gets me the most is it flies on 1GB of RAM. I'm impressed so far.

I'm still running Windows 7 RC1 on my main home computer. My opinion of windows 8 is that they shouldn't be making operating systems like a modern warfare gaming franchise...

Just support your OS. I feel that Windows 7 was pretty much a service pack of Vista w\ renaming for all of the people who made it seem like vista was just horrific.
