Ok, just got my new toy, a WD raptor 74gb. I get windows installed on it ok, ( I slipstreamed the SATA driver into a windows xp pro w/ SP2 cd)

Windows copies all the files to the harddrive, reboots, does it's thing, I enter my name, assign a workgroup and timezone, and then it reboots again and blue screens for a split second, then reboots it self.
My thoughts are I screwed something up in the slipstream and windows can't access the driver when it tries to start (doen't make much sense to me)
or the video card is crashing the install. Thanks in advanced for any help.
(I'm rigging up a floppy now to try an install with SATA drivers off a floppy, also, the computer will still boot to the old hard drive with win xp on it!)

System :
AMD 64b 3200+
Asus K8V se
Antec true power (400w +)
6800 GT OC (BFG)

Just to clarify, is GUI mode setup completing successfully and rebooting?
So it's doing a bluescreen when it should be coming up properly for the first time?
If so, are you getting a splash screen at all? If you can hit F8, Windows XP sp2 should allow you to disable the automatic reboot so you can find out what kind of STOP you are getting.

Took your advice, and here it is (going to head to MS next)

"MACHINE_CHECK_EXCEPTION"

Technical information:
*** STOP: 0x0000009C (0x00000004, 0x000000000, 0xB200000, 0x00070F0F)

Those look like memory address, but my memory should be fine because I was able to get Fedora Core up and running on my system.

Also, I am able to boot into windows now, but if I try to click anything, or install any drivers I get this error.

well, I'm semi-hopeful (been messin with it for 3 days) that it is a memory issue, going to start pulling the chips out 1 at a time.

Bad news dude:

A Stop 0x0000009C can NOT be caused by any form of software including an OS or drivers. A machine check is generated by hardware only (although the OS is 'nice' enough to pass on the info to you).

Although you were able to get it installed, your Fedora may have some problems so be prepared.

See if there is a BIOS update available for your motherboard or any controllers. Also, run a memory tester.

Edit: A bit more info for ya:

If you install XP manually (ie eliminate the slipstreaming bit) how does it work? You mention another HDD works fine in that same motherboard, so if the only thing you changed was the HDD, I don't see how it can be anything but a driver issue. Anyway, why not just ghost the old HDD onto the new HDD (assuming, naturally, that the SATA drivers are installed on the old HDD.)
