Of course not, but if you can afford to shell out a few extra bucks for a few added ticks of performance, why not? Does RB work? Maybe I'm dense, but VU seems to perform equally for me, whether a jump is installed or not.

5.0 for my CPU
5.7 for my OS HD
The rest are 5.9

My base is 5.0 thanks to my X2 4800+, with everything ranking between 5.8 and 5.9 except my memory, which gets 5.2.

Umm no, it`s off by default.

He's right, Write Caching is on by default for fixed drives. There is an option to enable "advanced performance", which is disabled by default. Not sure what that is tho.

Apparently, enabling that turns your standard writeback cache in to delayed writeback cache. I'm still leary about enabling this feature, I'll wait a bit more to see if we end up with threads about data corruption/loss as a result of having this enabled...if not, I'll flip it on. Picking up a UPS would probably not be a bad idea for those of you who do enable this.

Just got Vista x64 Home Premium.

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Quad CPU Q6600 @ 2.40GHz 5.9
Memory (RAM) 4.00 GB 4.5
Graphics NVIDIA GeForce 8800 GT 1.0
Gaming graphics 2303 MB Total available graphics memory 1.0
Primary hard disk 273GB Free (466GB Total) 5.8

Bummer. Wonder why my 8800GT is only getting a 1. and I'm not quite sure why my RAM (2x2GB A-DATA DDR2 (800) - 4-4-4-12) is only getting a 4.5. I've yet to overclock tho.

Actually they are both right. The default write caching only occurs when it's very safe for the system to do so, the 'advanced performance' turns on some more risky (in case of power failure) caching. Run that option on a laptop or with a UPS on your desktop.

Make sure all of your drivers are updated. You should get a 5.9 with that card. Don't know about the ram. I'm getting 5.9 on mine. Maybe check for BIOS updates, and chipset drivers.

It indeed was the RAM. 2x2GB. Was like 4am when I put my system together a few days ago and dual channel set up didn't even occur to me. Swapped the second stick and now I'm at:

5.9
5.2
5.9
5.9
5.8

Processor: 4.3 (when not OCed it gives me 3.9)
Memory: 4.1
Aero: 5.9
Gaming: 5.8
HDD: 5.6

EDIT #1: I just took the 1GB stick off, to enable Dual Channel and 1T command rate. The base score is now 4.3 (CPU) because my memory score jumped to 4.5

EDIT #2: OCed the CPU to 2.7 Ghz... now my base score is 4.4!

Getting faster each minute! At least to Vista's eyes...

Vista Home Premium 32 bit, by the way.
