There's a sub-category for "disk data transfer rate."

I don't think my two Gigabyte G1 GTX 980s are outdated yet.

Disk data transfer rate.

Processor: 7.8
Memory (RAM): 7.8
Graphics: 7.9
Gaming graphics: 7.9
Disk transfer rate: 6.9

I'm reading in many places (including Anandtech) that WEI is trash, and inaccurate. No wonder they dropped it for 8.1

The SSD is also over half-full.

I would run a benchmark on your drive... make sure the SSD is getting SATA3 speeds.

Indeed it's low. Mine is at 7.7 and it's using a SATA 2 speed (see sig). One thing I noticed at the Speccy info is that mine has also the APM feature, but would it make any difference in disk transfer rate?

Edit. That's a Samsung not a Seagate as mentioned in your OP.

My old system with a Crucial M4 on SATA2 attained 7.8. Yours should score similar or higher.

Just a few basics to check: Are you using the motherboard chipset native SATA port? Is it on IDE or AHCI mode? Is the cable firmly plugged in?

If you wanted, you can still run the assessment from the command prompt:

Step 1: Open a command prompt as administrator, then type "winsat prepop" and press Enter. This will run the benchmark and store the results on your PC as XML files.

Step 2: Open the Windows Powershell as administrator, then type "Get-WmiObject -Class Win32_WinSAT" and press Enter. This will analyze the results in the XML files, then present them as scores for each category.

Does 8.1 even have this anymore ?

I thought about running it once and can't even find it.

NM I found something but probably won't bother.

Actually just ra it on win 8.1 for grins and giggles.

"winsat formal -restart" without the quotes in a Admin command line works.

8.2 it looks, but still have a new goodie haven't popped in.

Just FYI, my year old EVO840 250GB scores me 7.9 on the disk thing on WEI.
I do have a 1TB SATA3 HDD, and I do believe that also matters.
WEI scores aren't all about speed. There's a bunch of different aspects that come in effect.

Also, I think the decision to drop WEI for Windows 8.1 was more due to the woeful lack of horsepower portable W8 devices suffer from in comparison to proper PCs, and I do believe it may have been hurting sales for Microsoft.

After all, who wants to pay 400 bucks for a netbook with 3.4 on WEI?

Not that most people care about that, but WEI really was created to create a kind of "relative" benchmark to guide consumers in their purchases. Techies know WEI is totally irrelevant.

It was because WEI is not a good indicator.
