Windows folders not arranging by date

my downloads folder has a bunch of mp3s, but it has several other file types. i'd like to arrange it by date modified, but it doesn't give me that option. what's going on ?

it only allows me to sort it by artist, track number, duration, etc. this is on wxp, if anyone has any suggesstions that'd be great. thanks!

Right click on one of the column headings and make sure "Date Modified" is checked.
