I have everything set up in my second machine. I have a network card for lan, and a network card for the dsl connection. Sharing the dsl connection doesn't seem to work. The network works fine, I just cannot get the internet connection on that the client machines. I am using Rasp PPPOE for my dialer. If there is something better out there "other than winpoet" that would be cool. I have tried everything I can think of. Basicly if anybody knows the exact settings I need for each card in my machine would be great. I have looked for guides but most of them are vauge on PPPOE.

Assuming that you have setup RASPPPOE correctly (I guess you did since you have no problem connecting to the internet), the following steps should be taken.

Check the properties of the RASPPPOE dial-up networking (the dun icon for the internet connection). Go to advanced and enable ICS. There should be an option to choose a nic for ICS. Choose the nic that's used to connect to the internet (the one for the dsl connection).

Go to properties of the nic for dsl connection. Set everything to "auto".

Go to properties of the nic for lan. When ICS is properly enabled, you should see the ip address as 192.168.0.1, subnet 255.255.255.0. If not, manually set the ip and subnet as mentioned.

Go to properties of the nic in the client machine. You should see ip address as 192.168.0.xxx, subnet 255.255.255.0, gateway 192.168.0.1, dns server 192.168.0.1. If not, manually set the ip, subnet and gateway as noted.

Hopefully, everyone is connected.

Unfortunately the combination DSL, PPPOE, and ICS are not a good prescription for happy computing.

If you insist in staying with software solution, try this:

RASPPPOE, PPP over Ethernet Protocol for Windows 98/98SE/ME/2000/XP.

The best solution is to get a Cable/DSL Router. Even if you don't have a Network you get ($50-$70), hardware Firewall and an independent PPPOE device.

You can uninstall WinPOET and whatever else, the ISP dished you.

Working through the Router in a DSL connection should yield faster smoother Internet connection (it is estimated that the PPPOE software creates a 5-10% reduction in the speed of the connection).
