Windows Intermittent Internet Connection

I've recently been having problems with my laptop and my home network, and my normal troubleshooting techniques can't seem to crack this one. Here's the facts that are leaving me confused:

1. Windows 7 x64 on my laptop is having difficulties connecting to my wifi.
2. The wifi is a basic home router, which I am quite close to(Windows sees it as full bars).
3. Four other laptops in the exact same location using Windows 7 have no difficulties connecting to it.
4. I can connect to the network(slowly), but once connected about 1/4 of my pings to the router fail, and the others succeed as varying speeds.
5. I've had no similar issues in the past with this laptop, and have even used it on this exact same router. The router's configuration has not been touched since I last messed with it, and it was working.
6. If I reboot into Linux Mint, I get a perfect connection to the network, just like all the other laptops.
7. If I power off both the modem and the router for a bit, with the laptop on, then power them back on and connect, my laptop has no issues connecting and gets good smooth Internet for at least 10 minutes or so.


I'm a computer technician, so I've run through the usual basic solutions, I ran Tweaking.com's Windows Repair, I ran Complete Internet Repair, I checked for malware, and I ran a WinPE to verify that it is indeed only a problem with my Windows 7.

This really boggles my mind, because it seems my Windows configuration is fine, unfortunately I don't have more networks to test this on, to make sure it's not my own, but since Linux has no issues connecting with the same MAC address and computer name, I have to believe the router's configuration is fine.

Anyone have any ideas so I can stop resetting my router or using Linux to connect?

Have you tried opening an elevated command prompt and running the following command?

netsh int ip reset c:\resetlog.txt

Note If you do not want to specify a directory path for the log file, use the following command:

netsh int ip reset resetlog.txt

Reboot the computer.

I'm guessing Tweaking's All in One or Complete Internet Repair did that, but I tried it anyway and no change.

Post your laptop specs and whether or not you're using a CardBus or PCMCIA type wireless adapter.

I seem to have fixed it by connecting through our extension router, so I'd guess the problem has something to do with the main router. It's a modern laptop using a standard built-in slot adapter, however, I think I'm good now, as long as I've got Internet working.
