Question Windows Live Mail in 2019

Recently wiped my Windows 10 install, that had Windows Live Mail working perfectly, and upon reinstall I found out that Windows Essentials that includes Windows Live Mail cannot be installed. My issue was due to some WaitForCatalog error: even with my old install file. Found a Full Install (windows stopped support in 2017), read that it needs the internet to be disabled while running the install, everything seemed to install fine. Got my credentials plugged in, my old emails imported, etc. I can receive emails but I cannot send nor reply. Outgoing seems to be broken. I've called my provider, spoke with tiers 1 & 2 and we could not get things going. Went over the ports, the authentication, the servers, etc. Receiving is good, sending and replying is broke. Could it be: the install, my email settings, something with my router, or I'm wondering if update 1909 broke it.

Anyone else having an issue with Windows Live Mail? What could it be?

You might be able to install WLM with an offline installer on Win10 1607 or maybe an earlier build. At some point I found it stopped working, I can't remember when.

I used an offline one a few days ago (Nov 23rd) with Windows up to date (1909) I don't remember Windows Live Mail ever NOT working up until today. Even then Receiving mail has worked until I found out today when trying to send a link about TV reviews to a family member. My SATA ports 3&4 died causing issues with the drive, I probably could of swapped ports if I would of known first, before reinstalling. So it wasn't too long ago that everything was working fine.

Ok, I got that sorted out a few days ago but I'm having a weird issue with Windows Live Mail automatically starting with Windows, occasionally. I remember there was some sort of windows learning what apps were used most and starting them upon start-up, but that was a while ago. I've checked the startup options in Task Manager, the startup folder, in the registry, and I'm not seeing Windows Live Mail in any place that I know would make Windows Live Mail start up with Windows. Any ideas?

I'm only used to seeing certain apps start on startup if the user has gone out of their way to set that up, or with the Windows 10 feature whereby it remembers the apps that were open when the computer was shut down or restarted.

Yeah, I knew there was something that was configurable to stop that, what was that!?! Thanks!

I thought this application was dead and gone, but I just downloaded the Essentials "suite" (such as it is) just for Live Mail, and it works like a champ. This has always been my favorite client, and I'm really glad to see it still works under W10. I know it won't enjoy updates, but as long as it brings in my mail and lets me create a blacklist, I'm happy.
