Windows machine in MBP13 range?

Yeah I'm confused too. I didn't see a price anywhere else let alone evidence you could buy it.

Yes I know, but they're the only ones which is why I'm confused. Other places say it's not due out until November. Did Amazon import some? Did they jump the gun on release date? Asus doesn't even have it up on their website yet. There's another model on Amazon that isn't available yet: http://www.amazon.com/Zenbook-UX301L...productDetails

There's also no reviews, so I'd be interested to know if anybody actually got one yet.

So did they tell you they made a mistake or did they actually ship you one? If they do send you something it's pretty interesting since nobody has reported that it's out yet in the US.

I haven't been able to find a review that suggest battery life; also kind of heavy compared to competition. Well 3.1lb. I was kind of wondering if Asus would offer a 1080p version but I'd like to see some reviews on this unit before seriously considering. Also given the weight it is hard press to see why i would go with this unit over the macbook pro (the sony is a full pound lighter). Btw I'll probably run linux on whatever unit i buy which is a bit different than the op who mentions window in the thread title.

Any thoughts about the Lenovo T440s? Hopefully, Thinkpad quality with a good kb and FHD screen. I've heard that it was released in other countries, but no date for Americas.

Another thing with this new MBP is non standard ssd, soldered ram and if your audio port breaks you need to replace the whole logic board. I like lenevos but they always felt bulky.

I went into a Best Buy yesterday to play with a Yoga 2 Pro for a bit - I'll probably end up buying one of those and one of the new MBP 13" and just play with them for a while. Not having used Windows 8, I'm not sure if I "need" the convertible form factor. Given how much I travel for work I can definitely see the advantages, but for a similar price, the MBP has 50% better battery life, hopefully no yellow-tinged display issues, and Intel Iris graphics.

And watch, just as I'm making a decision, the Asus will finally become available and Lenovo will make something in line with their traditional Thinkpads.

I bought the Yoga 2 Pro last week, and so far I really love it. The build quality seems really nice, the 360 rotation works wonders for the usability of the touchscreen, and the 1800p resolution is actually very nice when you use it as a tablet.

The only problem with the Yoga 2 pro seems to be the yellow screen thing, but that only applies when you are in battery saver mode, so it's clearly a software issue, and Lenovo has already said they are working on fixing it, so I'm not really worried about it.

However, while I like the laptop, I'm really not sold on Windows 8. It's just not a very good operating system for portable devices yet.

That's good to know - I'm looking at Thursday or Saturday to buy the laptops so I'm getting pretty anxious...I've been living with a Chromebook for the last 6 months!
