Saw these boxes at my local Circuit City today (Denver), there were about 5, priced at $34 and change.

Nothing too spectacular, as the OS was a failure IMHO, but a decent price nonetheless if you need *some* OS.

the more obsolete and forgotten the OS the less likely new viruses are written for it.

I will program an OS from you in assembly language if you need an OS this badly.

Or spend ~$20 (or less, with shipping) on purchasing a couple of cd's online that come with linux. You will get more than just an OS, Browser, and media player for less money. You will get "some" OS.

I rather deal with a virus than install that "SO Called" OS ...

I thought WinMe was the best of the 9X line except for WMP7, which was a real dog. It was just Win98 Third Edition or Win95 Six, Seven, whatever...

I used Win ME for a year when it came out.....and if your thinking of jumping on this deal, you might very well take your 34 bucks, flush them down the toilet and continue using your old OS, even if it is Windows 98.

Team up ME with one of those $10- 500w power supplies you always see here, step back and see what happens - you know something will give

Running Windows XP Pro at home and Windows 2000 at work. Both seem to be very stable, especially 2000, but no one here has mentioned 2000?

Ha ha ha, I was expecting this kind of response, good job everybody.

Actually, I was thinking about a launchpad for an upgrade with this OS, but this is lukewarm at best, you still have to pay some for the upgrade anyway.

I was able to sell my copy of Me to some unsuspecting eBayer for about $80 a year or so ago, which was quite a coup I thought. Good riddance.

Actually... you might contact MS, and find out what "downgrade rights" a retail-boxed WinME package has.

If you didn't know, in many cases, if you buy an MS OS, you actually have the right to use that license instead, for an earlier/older OS release, in the same market category. So in fact, if MS will let you, you could potentially "convert" these into Win98se licenses. That's actually not such a bad deal then, in terms of "getting legal" for an older machine.

Mildly warm deal then.
