Windows ME Pagefile fragmented

I'd really like to defrag the pagefile for my friend's laptop w/ windows ME but apparantly the option in Diskeeper 9.0 I used for my own machine which schedules a boot-time defrag does not exist when I run it under Windows ME.

Any other way to do this? Could I just disable Virtual memory then reboot and re-enable it? At least I'd get a continous block right?

if i recall, that will work, if im wrong someone can correct me. Try doing a defrag before to help minimize it when it gets recreated, as well as set it to a fixed size will help too

Make sure your friend's laptop has enough memory to boot before you shut off virtual memory. I remember having an old Pentium machine w/ something like 16M of ram...I turned off virtual memory and it took me damn near a day to figure out how to fix it.

OK I did it and it went without a hitch. I hope I allocated enough space... 768 megs sound like enough? it's a 128mb ram system with 9gigs hard drive space

It can also be done simply by deleting the page file - set to zero or move to a different partition. Reboot, and when ME creates a new one, it will not be fragmented.

The good defrag programs, such as PerfectDisk, do that (defrag page and system files) easily off-line during a reboot.
