Windows Media Player 11

I used to have WMP 11 but now have WMP 10 (don't ask) but now I want to go back to WMP 11. My only issue with it WMP 11 is that it doesn't have Auto Playlists (playlists that automatically add songs to them based on certain restrictions like "4 & 5 Star Rated Songs" or "Have Not Heard Recently" etc.)

Does anyone know how to get this for Windows Media Player 10?

Also, if there is a better software you use, feel free to give recommendations BUT LIST WHY IT'S BETTER (system resources, UI, etc.)

I'm real comfortable with WMP so I would appreciate it if you could help me with my problem first then give me recommendations

I think they changed the name in WMP11 from Auto Playlists... but I don't use it that much so I could be wrong.

I really liked using iTunes on Windows, but this was back in the days of WMP10. iTunes had faster, better searching, the iTunes Store, I preferred how it organized my music, and it is just so dang easy to use.

faster searching for songs on your hard drive? or am i missing something?

also, do you know if it takes up a lot of cpu resources? if it's a RAM hog, whatever, but my CPU fan spins up a lot lately so i want something that doesn't put stress on my CPU.

Searching within the library itself. Search as you type for example (which I think WMP11 has now, finally). But on top of that, it also has persistent scroll bars while the application is running. What I mean by that is when you are in your main library and you scroll halfway down, and then you drag that file to a playlist, and insert it about 1/4 of the way down, you can then jump back to your playlist and it is at the same point at which you left it.

It does have smart playlists that can have any kinds of attributes. Such as... I want the top 80 minutes of the most played 4-5 star soundtrack songs in my library. And away it goes. It is a bit of a RAM hog simply because of coverflow. As far as CPu goes... the system in my sig (this is in OS X mind so expect variations) is using 8% CPU on average, so not too much of a hog in the long scheme of things.

Alright thanks for the help TheStu. I never really liked the theme to iTunes but i'm sure there are skins i can download. I'll give it a try

can anyone second what Stu said about WMP 11 having AutoPlaylists under another name? and what it's called?

Go to library and on the left hand side right click Playlist from the menu that comes up select Create Auto Playlists then the wizard will come up.
