Windows Media vs XP home?

which would be a better choice for me? i do video editing listen to music play some games IM net Email and all the usual. waht are the big differences between the 2? is one better then the other?

from what ist sounds like you do, media will offer you nothing over home...so go with whcihever is cheaper

Media is Pro with the ability to change domains gone, but it has software for TV/Video playback combined that i like a lot, along with some video/sound editing stuff as well

Really, the only thing that WME has that XP does not is that WME has built in support for TV tuners. You can also get 99% of the WME features with XP from 3rd party software, like GB-PVR, or Snapstream BeyondTV, etc...

Of course, you will need a TV tuner in order to utilize the TV/Recording features.

You should only pick MCE if you can do the proper research to see if hardware is supported by MCE before buying it.

Just because a card like an ATI All-in-Wonder is supported in XP Home does not mean it is fully supported in XP MCE.

yeah...like if you dont have a p4 cpu with hyperthreading, you get no support from ATI for drivers for your aiw card, isnt it awesome?


and to the OP: Go with xp home, or xp pro, if you ever want to use remote desktop go with xp pro, home doesnt have remote desktop capabilities...of course you can use tight vnc, but RDP is awesome!

ok so there is no real huge difference so im gonna stick with xp home
