Just recently I was able to install both Splinter Cell and Prince of Persia. They had both been having problems with IntsallShield but somehow magically one time they just decided to install. Anyway. I go through Splinter Cell first, play it for a little bit and then I quit. Instead of bringing me back to the desktop, my computer reboots and when I come back to Windows it says it has recovered from a serious error. I try Prince of Persia, and the same thing happens.
Thinking it's my video cards, I uninstall the ones I had (they were beta too so I had another reason to suspect them), and for some reason reinstalled my monitor as a standard Plug N Play one (It's a Syncmaster 997DF), and then restarted. Booted up PoP, played for a bit, and then quit. Eureka! I figure it had to be the video card drivers. Thinking nothing else of it, I install the drivers for my monitor from Samsung's website and a little while later I try PoP again, and it reboots after quitting. I'm guessing now it's the monitor, the only problem is that even when I unistall the all the monitor drivers it won't let me reinstall it as a Plug N' Play monitor again.
I don't have the specific Windows error, but I was just looking for some input.
My system:
Athlon 64 3400+
Leadtek Geforce 6600GT AGP
512 MB Kingston Value RAM
Also, since I'm on the subject of video problems here, I ran 3dMark03 last night, tywice. Both times I got just over 7700 and thought that was a little low. Will getting an extra 512 of RAM (which I was planning on doing anyway) and getting my Leadtek to regular speeds (standard 500 Mhz core but 900 Mhz on the memory instead of 1000) help enough?
