ive got 4 of the same computers, one is an xp machine (pro i believe) and the other 3 are using windows server 2000. i have dns, active directory and dhcp all set up completely(at least i think they are) i need to setup a network printer to be used by all the computers, make home folders for all the computers and make 4 user accounts that can be accessed from any of the 4 computers.

Find out which of the 4 servers is the DC (it's the one w/ active directory installed) and set up everything on it. (printer, home directory, etc)
If you want to go into more specifics, youl'll have to look online or get a book.

You could even go as far as logon scripts and roaming profiles if you so desire.

all three of the servers are domain controllers, one setup as the first one and then the other two setup as additional. i have the windows server 2000 book but i was wondering if you could explain it in simpler terms and then what to do for the xp machine

First of all, you want to create user accounts for all your users, and then add those client computer into the domain. You then create shares for users home folder in one of the servers and specify it on the users properties to connect at logon.

Correct me if I'm wrong but XP Home doesn't allow you to log-on to domains.

I bring this up because you said you were not sure if the machine was Pro/Home.

nope it doesn't. it does allow you to log onto shares tho. so if you set up shares on the server os machines and include the username you are using in the xp home machine in the acl, then the xp home machine can access shares on a domain.

it is pro, and they all must have their own seperate user account that can be acessed by any computer. the three servers are domain controllers in the same domain, and the xp computer is just under the computer folder. how do i make the accounts and the home folders?

What you are asking is basic windows 2000 2003 system administration questions go and by yourself a book or take a class. I hope like hell you are not on a production network and this is a test network you are working on. If this is a production network tell these people you don't know what you are doing before you seriously f*** something up.

this is not a professional network, im a high school student in a class and this was the thing we were doing. i would know how to do it except i was out three days and we only spent for days learning how to do it, so all i know is what we did the first day, which was dns and active directory. the day i got back we had a test, and my teach did not give me a break so i didnt know how to do user names, dhcp, homefolders, and printer, or at least hadnt done it before. i have a book at the school but its setup as you start with the install and then do everything the way it says, but since i knew how to do everything up to dhcp, and since mine wasnt i wasnt sure how to do it. i figured it out with some help from a friend but didnt catch were he setup the user profiles and home folders where you enter %username% and thats all i wanted. sorry for any confusion
