windows server 2003 HELP PLEASE!!! Update!!!

The high school technology teacher was running this system under admin for everyone!! Someone changed the password or so he says and no one will admit it. I think he learned a valuable lesson! Now he can't get into it. Any way to retrieve the password.

No I'm not trying to hack someone. If you can help I can give the the name of the parties involved so you can check it out. Any help greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance

Edit: He told me a lot more about the situation and it is a long story. if anyone can help, I would be glad to pm or call you with additional info. I am a newb at this situation.Ok, He can't access the domain controller. Also, they are running a sonic firewall. Any way around that.

This free program makes a bootable floppy (or CD) that you can use to change or blank any local ID including the local administrator password. The one time I treid changing it the change did not work so the other times I have had it blank it and it has worked fine.

I'm trying to figure out how to crack a Windows 2000 Admin account. The user change the password but apperently typed something wrong.

I tried the Ophcrack LiveCD and it didnt find the password.

I have tried I think the first two.

the first one is great, except that if your password has signs in it it wont work, like . and , or -

the second one works, it just resets the password, could have some drawbacks

If the server is a domain controller I don't think the regular 'password reset' utilities will work. I think most of them state that in the FAQ or disclaimer.

Doesn't he have his own login or another login on the system with administrative rights just for this type of situation? If not, I'll bet he does in the future.

I just tried it on a XP MCE SP2 testing machine and it was sucessful at wipping the password.

I've used this multiple times on xp and 2k. Works like a charm. Just blank out the password, don't change it.
