I thought I would bring this back to the top. I'm having the same issue on my laptop with nothing plugged in to it. I also downloaded microsofts UHP (?) program to determine what it was that was hanging my shutdown. The error code in the event log was 1517.(something not releasing memory at shutdown)
The log for the UHP program says the error is due to something trying to access my wireless card during shutdown, which I have disabled in most cases as my office doesn't have access to the campus wireless.
Any ideas how to track down what program is doing this? It's not overly annoying, it just takes a good full minute to shutdown, where it boots and is usable in about 20s from a cold boot.(not a resume)
Thanks!
