Windows Slow Startup

I need a little help. Windows is taking way to long to load on startup. It reaches about 2mins before everything is loaded. I have checked all the sources where windows loads things from and there is not a lot loading but it still takes too long. Any ideas this is really confusing me.

Is the long time whilst windows loads, or whilst programs load.

From what you have said, it is whilst windows is loading, I would recommend using this program to see what is taking the time:

Most slow startup problems are caused by Windows searching for files/programs/hardware/drivers that aren't there anymore. Typically this is caused by not uninstalling stuff properly and/or simply installing new stuff over the top of the old stuff.

Check your registry file for anything (hardware and/or software) that you have lately unistalled and make sure there are no entries for those items still there. If they are still there they have the potential to cause problems (such as long startup times), so you should delete them.

I think Liveware causes very long boots though as well as LAN cards..

By the time you have set static IP and other aspects, it should only add 1-2 seconds to the boot up time.

My Sb Live does though, add an extra 10 seconds to the total boot up time

Just checked the program - worst offender is: "Dynamic Load Success dsound.vxd" at 70seconds!
Total boot time is over 2 mins
It was originally around 45secs to perhaps 1 min 15 seconds before I re-installed Liveware....

you can add code to the registry and sys files to reduce load time to less than 20 seconds for most systems. Many sites have the info (I can't remember all the stuff).

Add Stuff like:

"WindowsLogo=0"
"WindowsStack=0,0" and so on...

You can speed up boot and windows speed quite a bit with a few mods to the sys and registry files.

BLA found and shaved 119 seconds off an A7V due to a bum std. floppy disk controller even though it was OK in Device Manager. Thanks again!

Yeah BLA also found a floppy disk controller that was causing slow downs!
Im not sure how 2 fix that though.

You could try the latest Intel BX chipset drivers
