What use is this software to you and Microsoft, why did they send it to you?
MS hopes you will install it and use it to see how just how simple setting up an office network is. In doing so you may learn that certain IT support people are unnecessary at your business. You may save money for your company, you may decide to start up a new small e-business, you may advocate the purchase of SBS 2003 to your friends and acquaintances. You learn something, MS earns something.
What is Small Business Server 2003?
It is an operating system AND a package of other software to set up and use a network and intranet/internet server.
The OS is Windows Server 2003. It is quite similar (especially in look and feel) to XP Professional. You can install it on a PC and it will run the PC. You can install other applications like Office XP and checkers and run them. It may not have the driver support for all non-server functions like, for instance, gaming. You wouldn't want to use this as the OS for your gaming rig as your graphics/sound/etc. cards might not be fully supported or work smoothly.
This package includes Outlook, both as a client (you can read your email, keep a calendar, collect hot babes' phone numbers and addresses, etc.) AND as an Exchange Server (which means you can set up email accounts and addresses WITHIN your network and possibly access them over the internet)
This package has a software firewall and other internet security stuff (sorry, still learning about all that...)
This package contains FrontPage 2003 for creating and maintaining intranet/internet web pages, which by itself is a valuable application even if it isn't the best web design software on the planet.
This package also has SQL Server which is a relational database that I don't use and know nothing about.
I can't find anything about a catheter.
