A few months ago my Windows 7 got messed up by my Ubuntu partition so I have been limping it along ever since. Yesterday, my Windows got completely messed up and I could not boot up or log in. I have a backup on my secondary hard drive from Sunday and I want to restore to this; I also have the installation CD. I tried to just repair the system and had no luck so I went ahead and wiped the SSD which was where 7 was saved and running from. I reinstalled 7 on it last night and want to now restore from my backup but cannot seem to find out how. I tried the recovery program but it could not find the image located on my second hard drive and would not let me manually select a file. I also could not simply right click on the file and mount the image like I was able to do in Windows 8. I tried putting the installation CD in and going to the repair menu but it would also not find the backup on my second HDD. The computer was backed up just using the Windows Backup program that comes as a default. I think, but am not 100% sure that the backup includes a system image(is there a way to check this?). Would it be best to format the SSD and put the image on that drive then try to run the repair from the disk with that drive? If not, what is the best way to restore/recover all of my things.
