Is there a way to get windows critical/recommended updates on a disc instead of thru the internet? who do i need to contact and how? my works firewall has closed all ports and we can no longer get windows updates via internet anymore. HELP!
Most likely the IT department/admin doesnt want you accessing Windows Update.
On my network I have disabled users from accessing the site. It's not thier job to patch machines anyhow. It's the IT dept's job. It also helps that they know what level all the machines are patched up to, and they can properly test patches instead of just having users download them and apply them haphazardly.
uhhhhh yeah... i am in the IT dept. and i'm in charge of getting the patches/updates we need. thing is they closed down the firewall so that the windows update won't work. i have to get all the patches/updates and compile them in a central location for distribution.

One questions tho... if you're in the IT department, and you're in charge of getting the updates, why the hell did you shutdown the most usefull web utility there is, Windows Update Catalog?
