I would not depend on it as a working OS, a separate machine is best. Not sure what installing it as a dual boot will do to the bootloader or MBR.
A separate machine is always ideal. In my case, I am using an old 80GB hard drive on a spare IDE port with my primary OS drive unplugged for safety. This gives a quick way to switch back to XP, with the only work being swapping a few cables (compared to sliding the office chair from one computer to another, it's only slightly worse).Originally posted by: hardcandy2

to get the product key all I did was sign up for Microsoft Passport. I dont' have hotmail or anythign and when I did this, they sent me a verification email. After that, I got an email with a link to the download and a link to my product key. No tricks needed, just a screen with a product key to copy down.

Downloading the iso now, (after about 1.3GB it has slowed to a crawl but is still downloading), and I have a Key.
Next question is: Should I replace my copy of XP Pro with this or mount this separately (dual boot) or on another machine by itself?
What is everybody else doing? Is it ready to be used as a daily OS or is it just experimental? Will my XP drivers, (video, sound), work with it?
Thanks All!
Better create a seperate partition, and do a seperate install. Since this is beta, there is no support. You assume the risk of use.
I'm sure XP drivers will not work. Some of your devices may work right from the initial install. For those other devices, there may be beta drivers released for those devices.

ScreenSavers, you are THE MAN. I am downloading it to my server at 7MB/s. All 3.2GB will be done in 8 minutes! w00t!
I got my x64 ISO straight from MS. You setup a tracker, I'll create the file, and we'll be in business.Originally posted by: plonk420
i got thru instantly this morning... but i suppose i could setup a tracker. i'll need someone with a GOOD ISO to create the torrent, tho as i'm still downloading on my poor 1.5mbit line...
