<< All due respect NFS4, you gave up on Whistler because of "slow menu animations?"
I seriouly hope you are not an official BETA tester!
Having written some programs (basic), it really bugs me when people want to try BETA software, only to give up on it on such elementary excuses.
As with any BETA operating system, you should never rely on it as your "main OS."
Of course, that's just my opinion; I could be wrong (hehe) >>
I don't know about you, but time is precious to me. And I HATE having to wait around for anything. The menu's were slow popping up, and would cause my mouse to stutter (USB and PS2). On top of that, it nearly coughed up its lung when I tried to copy a some files on a CD in Windows Explorer while surfing the net. It froze my machine.
And thankfully, I am NOT a beta tester. B/C I couldn't deal with that for too long. When you're used to a certain "level," you don't want to be brought down by something (no matter what it is). I know that it is a work in progress, and I hope they work on the menu animations. But the concept is great and the overall GUI is great. They just need to get the speed down packed.
I just wanted to see how Whistler was and if it was cool enough for me to use until the next release (Beta 2) comes out. I may be a picky bastard, but hey aren't we all
Sure, Whistler is nice and about 90% stable, but I just wanted to test it out. And the animations and slow repsonses bugged me. If you have a problem with that, fine. I don't care, it's not your computer
