Windows will not load..

First off I tried formatting my hard drive. I kept on getting an error after WindowsXP loaded and I could never set it up to start initalizing the install. The error I recieved was:
Stop: C0000221 Unknown Hard Error
\SystemRoot\System32\Ntdll.dll

After numerous attempts I just took the hard drive out and installed it on another computer. Everything went fine no problems what so ever. So after Windows finish installing, I swap the hard drive to my original computer. Now when it boots up It will get to a blue screen and restart automatically before I can even read the BSOD. I cant start in safe mode either. Does anyone know what the problem may be? I can't figure it out. I only left one stick of ram in there. I don't know what the problem is; I've been trying to get this PC to work but something always seems to go bizzerk.

I have the hard drive in another computer and its booting up fine.
I really have almost tested my whole computer. Only thing left to check is the processor and RAM, which will be costly to replace. I am unsure if its the ram, I left my computer on all last night till this morning 10hrs and it ran fine; although I wasnt running CPUburn.

I am going to run memtest86 again tonite and see if I get any errors. Last time I check there was a lot of errors. I will report back later on with results.


I tried running memtest but the computer will restart even before the program loads..

I know this is a farfetched request, but does anyone have a spare processor they can loan me to test out?

I had the same problem a while ago.

Ugh, I wish I remembered what I did to fix the problem though, but I don't. Something about continously hitting the space-bar when you hear a "beep" when the computer is starting... but I can't say for sure. It's best to call up the company of your computer and ask them for technical support.

Link to Microsoft support. It says the Windows checks some dlls at startup and if a file is corrupt you get that error. Replace Ntdll.dll and try again.

I pressed the space bar but no luck. Still same thing over and over. I cant call tech support really because I built the junk.

I tried everything the windows webpage had said, but still no luck either. My hard drive works fine in another computer and boots up perfectly, just not in this computer.

I got another processor and still the same errors. GRRRrrrrr.
Any reason for windows to automatically restart?

So after Windows finish installing, I swap the hard drive to my original computer.

Win2k/XP are almost impossible to move between different motherboards without a reinstall. So unless you have exactly matched systems, moving the hard drive back and forth is not going to work.

I don't have an answer to the issue but google has lot's of hits.

It sure sounds like memory issues to me.
Try use only one stick of memory and swapping it to see which stick is causing the problem.
