Windows XP Log On

I recently updated my graphics card drivers. I have Windows XP Home. In order to clean out the old drivers, I had to go to Safe Mode. The drivers installed and work fine. But now, each time I boot up I have to go through the Windows Log On window. I am the only one who has access to my computer, and I haven?t even got a password. I would like to get back to where I can boot up or reboot, and walk away from it and not have to wait to punch in the Windows Log On. I have looked in Safe Mode to try to determine what I have done, but I don?t know enough about what to look for. Can anyone help me here?

Go into Start-->Settings-->Control Panel-->User Accounts

In there you can 'Change the way users logon' and if 'Use the Welcome Screen' is seleccted then you won't have the username and password prompt. It might be that another user account has been added as well which I think might stop it logging on automatically - maybe the drivers did this when the .NET framework was installed (if that was part of the drivers)?

try this:

click on Start -> Control Panel -> User Accounts.
Uncheck the "Users must enter a username and password to use this computer" check box.
Click Apply.
Enter the user name and password you wish to automatically log on with, and then click OK.
Click OK again and you're all done.

go to start menu click on run and type control userpasswords2 and deselect the check box that says users must enter a username and password to use this computer and reboot and that should fix it.

PS: make sure to select your username and not Administrator when you do this or else it will boot you into the hidden Administrator account.
