Well Ive tried to install windows xp pro on a pc of mine before I would install it to the new one to know if it will work .

I have a SCSI HD and I was hoping I would get the error with scsi drives 0x0000007B ( 0xF4063848, 0xC000034, 00000000, 00000000 ) , but instead I get an 0x0000007B (0xFC90A63C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) , the 0x0000007B is a sign that of the unaccesable boot device error , but the 0xFC90A63C ? I ve googled it , gave me 1 link where was no aswer .

Reason Im posting this is I dont know if its some kind of scsi error with really old pcs or a problem with scratched cd , or something else , and before I install the windows xp pro on my new pc I want to be sure nothing will happen to it .

Anyone heard of this problem ?

You're installing XP on an old PC to see if "it" will work? What is "it"? Your hard drive? The operating system?

Are you trying to see if XP will work? If your SCSI hard drive will work? If XP successfully installs on your old system, why does that have any bearing on whether or not XP will install successfully on your new system?

I get an 0x0000007B (0xFC90A63C,0xC0000034,0x00000000,0x00000000) error , and since I cant find anything about that error , only about the 0x0000007B ( 0xF4063848, 0xC000034, 00000000, 00000000 ) , I realised It could be a problem with the cd , or something else .

And before I install the windows xp pro which dont work on my old pc I want to make sure they wont do anything to my new pc .

I mean I found a error which I cant find any info about ....

EDIT : And of course I want to know what I should do to make the xp work and get rid of the error before I install it on my new pc . Also it installes on the old one , but doesnt work and gives me the error I told you about .

Did you do an upgrade or a full reformat/install? Are all your SCSI devices terminated properly?

Terminated properly ? What does that mean ? How can I find out if they are ?

I think you dont understand my point , I just want to know if its a problem of the cd or a problem of my pc , and because Ive never heard of the problem and I cant find info about it , it is not sure its not a problem of the disc .

SCSI devices are daisy-chained. Each device on the chain needs a unique ID set, and the last device on the chain needs a terminator plugged into it.

Going back to my upgrade question ... when you installed XP, did you format your SCSI drive and install XP fresh, or did you upgrade your Windows 98 install without reformatting?

You're still not understanding my question.

Explain to me in as much detail as possible the steps you went through to install XP.

I turned on my pc , loaded windows 98 , putted in the cd , choosed to install , gave the coa , it started to install the files for win xp , than it said it wanted to restart , it restarted , later it gave me 2 choices for os to run : windows xp proffesional setup and windows , I pressed enter on windows xp proffesional setup , it started to detect my hardware , than it went to BSOD with text : Windows had problems telling what your hardware was and they have been turned off ( windows ) .
If its the first time you experiencing this , restart your pc , if its not do this :
Make sure there are no viruses on you hd and get rid of new files and hd controllers , reformat your hd and later chek by CHKSK /F damage of you hd and later restart .
tech info
*** Stop 0x0000007B ( 0xFC90a63c , 0xc0000034 , 0x00000000 , 0x00000000 )

.

From that part I went to this site and made this forum from windows 98 .

Well, your problem likely stems from the fact that you did an in-place install (which can always be problematic) versus a clean install.

Since you'll be installing on a new PC, it's impossible to tell if you'll run into the same issues, different issues or no issues at all. The error on your old PC is related to either a hardware or a driver issue, and you won't have the same hardware or the same drivers on your new PC.

Ok now I tried booting from cd and it installed , than when I restarted I just had to change the boot device to hdd-0 and not scsi and it loaded 98 so there cant be a problem with the cd .

Thanks chad .
