I just created a new user name for my niece and I don't want her to have internet access .Could someone tell me how to disable the internet access on her account. Can it be done. I monkey around still can't find anything in there that would let me do that.

Thanks

As far as I know you can't without buying some 3rd party program.

However, if your niece is not computer savvy, you could just delete the IE shortcuts on her desktop and in her startmenu group.

You'll also need to delete the Windows Update shortcut (or relocate it) since this runs IE and could be used to gain access. HOWEVER, the Windows Update shortcut can't be deleted from within a limited account - it's actually a shortcut that exists in the All Users account. You need to logon as the Admin and delet or relocate it which will prevent it from appearing in the Startup in all user accounts.

Keep in mind that kids are resourceful - Internet access will still be possible by running IEXPLORE.EXE directly.

Hope this helps...

there might be a way if you goto start> run > MMC

and click file add snap in, then add, and select group policy

mess around with some of those settings, i know theres a way to do it if your on a domain, but youd have to do it at the sever end

AFAIK, there's no easy way to deny ALL internet access.

If you're concerned about web browsing, you can deny read or execute permissions to this user on iexplore.exe. You can do the same for outlook.exe, etc.

But as for a blanket way to deny all internet access, it's really not something that can be easily configured at the client machine. Especially if you have a LAN and want access to the LAN but not the internet. This is something that's easier to configure at the router/firewall/proxy/whatever level.
