Windows XP Professional on K8N Neo Platinum...HELP!!!

Only application I know of with Western Digital is DataSafe or something like that which will help you setup partitions within Windows and copy your entire drive to another.

I burned a .ISO of maxblast and it's not helping although it gave me some error. I'll try a second burn of it just to see if it wasn't a bad burn considering I was trying to surf the web at the same time.

I didn't know that SATA would be this much work!

Oh, its a serial ata. I'm not sure on this but I thought drivers had to be installed onto the motherboard before a sata drive would work. Can anyone else confirm this? I would also try to look in your motherboard manual because I know my MSI manual has alot of information on sata drive setup.

Found out that the MaxBlast is for ATA drives only. My mistake. I will take a look at my DFI Ut250 GB manual and see what it has to say about installing SATA drives.


Update: Found nothing for installing SATA drivers. I beleive that drivers for the SATA drive are already on the motherboard because it the bios recogonizes it as a 300 gig drive. The problem is getting a driver into Windows so that it acknolwedges it as a 300 gigabyte drive as well.

yeh i know that with SATA drives, you hit F6 at windows setup when prompted (it goes by kind of quick so watch for it) and then you put in the floppy that came with the mobo, and then you select both of those nvidia drivers (forgot the names). i think that might work for SATA.

alright, now this is just weird. i tried it on the 80GB hard drive and the same thing happened again! it went straight back to the first step after the restart! i don't know what the problem could be at all now. please help me out with this :/

Yea that should fat thanks. But problem is I don't have a floppy drive even installed first off. Second off I can't find the disk - I think I may be able to scrounge up the initial Install CD with Nforce drivers on it but I don't beleive that it had SATA drivers on it. I'll try it anyways... tomorrow. Also I tried to look on DFI's website for SATA drivers that might be available for download and all I found were SATA RAID drivers.

Woof. Life is tough when you're a geek. I already skipped my homework for tonight. Might as well get some sleep while I still can. Adios people - I'll be back tomorrow.

Maxtor tells me that I need to install a SATA driver upon installing Windows. Here's where the real problem is. I didn't receive one with the motherboard and when I look online for one at DFI.com I don't find any. I also checked out Maxtor's site for one and I'm lost there too. Should I pull a generic SATA driver off of the net and see if it will work? Or are SATA drivers included in the Nforce drivers so that I could download and put the install file on a cd and then when Windows asks for drivers hit F6 and check the cd?

i don't know what's on the CD that came with the board, but i read that all of the necessary drivers are on the floppy disk that came with it.

alright, so i finally just went out and bought a SATA hard drive and installed windows with no problem. now i'm wondering if you guys can help me set up a mic on this board. it doesn't seem to work.
