You're SOL.

WinXP64 might be usefull especially in Java Software Development..

I'm pretty sure VMWARE is planning on releasing a 64-bit version, hence users won't be limited to 2.6gigs of RAM max (if they have 4 gigs of RAM).

Don't they already have a 64bit version out?

Does anyone know of any desktop backup software that will run on x64? I'm looking for something that can be scheduled and user configurable.

no offence guys, but this is like watching paint dry. I want a 64 bit OS as much as the next guy, but this is just not worth it to me. I have to say that I have a lot of respect for all of you sticking it outh though.

Installed WinXP 64 yesterday and so far so goodish. My PowerDVD(5) doesn't seem to want to work, but I think it might be because it doesn't recognize my DVD burner, will be looking for patches.

I'm sticking it out b/c I paid for it already... I'd sell it w/ one of my builds but it's a little too quirky and I don't want to have to deal w/ the tech support.

The latest version of WinDVD worked for me, if that's worth anything.

The only thing that really stopping from upgrading is my Hauppauge WinTV which has the Brooktree Conexant 878A chipset.

According to Canon's website, the following printer drivers for x64 will be available sometime mid-November:
iP90
iP1500
iP1600
iP2000
iP3000
iP4000
iP4200
iP5000
iP6000D
iP6210D
iP6220D
iP6600D

Still no support yet for older i-series printers though like my i850

PDVD 6 works fine, including the Remote.

The big question is which will come first: a PCIe-based card or x64 drivers? They seem too lazy to do either.

Just install and uncheck the option to add that toolbar thingy. Works perfect so far!

Yeah, I saw that option when I was installing, which was after I posted. I don't know what the guy I was quoting was complaining about.

I picked up my Win64 from somebody who couldn't use it on his machine, Couldn't get his system to work with the new technology.

Since I built a new AMD64 system, it looked like a good deal, $100 for the program.
He activated it but couldn't get the drivers for his hardware. All kinds of problems as he put it. Well, my point is that when I tried to register it, I had to call Microsoft to get a new registration 42 digit code. Imagine to my surprise after talking to a real person, the installation was finalized.

Next came the search for x64 drivers

The ASUS mobo came with its own drivers disk so that went OK, next was my ATI's turn.
The ATI website had the x64 drivers update and my dual monitors was up and running.

I found that my other hardware took a little longer to work but I Goggled my way to success, finding what I needed after downloading drivers and updates. Imagine my little struggle trying to get the right device compatibility with the new x64 system.

I've noticed faster downloads off the x64 IE and my applications seem faster. Its kinda early to start raving about this new software but given time, I will see.

I'm planning on building a x64 Linux system next month and that should be interesting also.
