This is my first time on these forums and have been running through what seems like an endless thread on the X64 upgrade, but I havn't really found what I'm look'n for (or if i did, i was confussed and didn't realize it lol). My situation is that a while ago i applied for the upgrade (before i knew about all the driver problems and program incompatabilities) and got my product key, I also downloaded the ISO but I never actually used it. Since that time I lost the iso file but still had the e-mail so i went ahead today and re-downloaded what is on that link (I think it's the most recent file, it's w2k3sp1_1433_usa_x64fre_pro.iso but i'm not sure.) So before I go through with this i thought i would drop by here and ask if anyone can give me the info i need for this upgrade.
What I'm look'n to find out is I am not sure if my system will work the way i want it too with x64 compared to what i have now. the main things i use are my IE, MS Works, UT 2K4 (this one I've heard won't work, but that was in an old thread and i'm not sure if thats still true), windows media player, and of course the anti-virus/spyware programs. for hardware I got a Chaintech VN/F4 Ultra, Athlon 64 3000+, MSI GFORCE 6600GT, no name CD/DVD drives, Creative SB Audigy2 Value, and the perifials like my ipod, digital camera, scanner, ms mouse and keyboard etc.
Now I know thats a lot of info and i know I've seem bits and pieces of it all over this thread (like the UT 2K4 and creative SB cards), but like I said i'm lost on whats current, how to find out, etc. and don't want my system to not work. if it does fail me, i'm SOL cause i got no other windows key and no cash to go buy another, so any help is apreciated, thanks.
