My PC has become unstable since I updated Google Desktop updates last week. Since the update, I have experienced the following :
1. Foobar freezes the PC occasionally and not even Ctrl-Alt-Del works. I need to press the reset button on the PC front panel
2. Sometimes on PC start-up, the Windows toolbar at the bottom of the screen freezes up and non of the icons in the tray appear. I am assuming the problem takes place before the applications have been loaded. I don't have Google Desktop run on start-up - I start it up manually.
Once the start-up is complete, windows is smooth until Foobar freezes (when it does happen). I do use kernel streaming, but have had no problem since now. Should I revert to using Direct Sound?
I have backed up my data and am wondering whether it is worthwhile doing a Windows XP system restore (i.e. rolling back to an earlier point) or simply to do a complete reinstall when the problem worsens.
Any suggestions?
